Gundrilling for Aerospace

Flexibility of design for future needs necessitated machining Titanium from Solid Billet rather than a forging on the Brake Manifolds for the Airbus A320-series aircraft. The manifolds were machined complete on a 4-axis machining centre.

Weight and size are critical in aerospace components, which is why these Satellite Fuel Manifolds were manufactured from solid Titanium billets. After milling the correct ‘Y’ or ‘T’ profile, the components were Deep Hole Gundrilled 8mm diameter and ground to a finished wall thickness of 1mm.
